Looking Ahead in Design: 2025 is for DIY!!
Home & DIY Mindset
This year, I'm diving into home improvement and DIY projects to transform my living space into a cozy sanctuary. In a world that often feels unpredictable, creating a safe and comfortable home environment is more important than ever.
Here are some projects I'm excited to tackle this in 2025!!!
DIY Large Artwork for the Living Room and Bedroom
Artwork plays a crucial role in interior design by adding personality, emotion, and visual interest to a space. BUT we also know that artwork could be EXPENSIVE whether you're trying to support up-and-coming artists or older artists, especially if you're looking for large artwork. For the last three years, I've been looking for two pieces of large artwork measuring more than 38 x 48 inches, which could be hard to find at an affordable price range. So this year, I'm taking it into my own hands and want to create some art of my own. Here a few pieces of artwork that are providing me inspiration.
Redesigning Nightstands for the Master Bedroom
Living in an old apartment in Brooklyn comes with many charming aspects and not enough storage or space. Due to this, it was hard to find a nightstands that would allow me to have a dresser and a nightstands in my bedroom. My solution was to take the Ikea Malm-2 drawer chest and spruce it up with a DIY project. My try at this project was Kelly Wearstler Superlux Pop Commode, unfortunately the wooden baubles kept falling off. Now that it has been a year of me looking at a pair of disheveled nightstands, I have to right my first try. After finally finding the inspiration from Lulu & Georgia the Kobe 3-Drawer Dresser that will not have me running after wooden balls, I could focus on the color. It will be a surprise!!
Building a Seating Bench for the Front Entryway
For the longest time the entry of my home has been a visual paint with a chair for visitor to take off their shoes and a basket to drop them in. It looks unintentional and clutter. The entry is the first impression of the home and sets the tone for what visitors will think of your design vision. It has always bother me that I put so much effort into my apartment and my entryway looks so lack luster. This is the year that I lovingly bother my husband to build an entry way bench with shelving for us.
